About the Speaker

Prof. D. V. Kumar’s research interests include Social Theory, Modernity and Ethnicity and Social Change. He also engages with public issues of the day. He recently published an edited volume on The Idea of a University (Routledge) which reaffirms universities as autonomous and critical spaces where ideas however dominant they may be need to be interrogated. His latest book is on Revisiting Social Theory (Routledge) which is an attempt to engage with Social Theory.
He conducted a number of projects under SAP-DSA of the UGC. One of his projects was on Mizos living in Bengaluru hich was later published in Sociological Bulletin.
