Dr.Ramesh H. Makwana is a Professor at the Post-graduate Department of Sociology, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand, Gujarat. He has been the Head of the Department of Sociology for five years and as Director of UGC Centre for Indian Diaspora, SPU; Director of Dr. Ambedkar Chair, SPU; convener of RC-18 Sociology of Crime and Deviance, ISS (2010-2014) and RC-23 Sociology of Law, ISS (2016-2018); Chairman, Board of Studies in Sociology, SPU and also secretary of Gujarat Sociological Society; members of editorial Board of two UGC CARE List Journals. His areas of specialization are Criminology, Political Sociology, Indian Diaspora, Rural Development & Gender Studies. He has published 24 books and 54 research papers in reputed journals. He has guided 45 Ph.D. and 54 M. Phil. Scholars. He has 24 years of teaching, research and administration in the University and has been awarded with the “Dr.Ambedker Award” and one lakh rupees from Govt. of Gujarat for his milestone social work. He has presented large numbers of research papers in International/National Seminars/Conferences along with the organization of several national and international conferences. He has been invited as a Resource Person in 96 Conferences, HRD Courses & Seminars at different Colleges & Universities.
