Dr Vinita Singh is currently working as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, Ranchi Women’s College, Ranchi University, Jharkhand. She is Ex Head of the University Department of Sociology and Director , Human Rights Education Programme, Ranchi University. She has been teaching for the past twenty nine years . She has two books and fourteen research papers to her credit and has supervised seven research scholars. She is Member Secretary, Academic Council ; Coordinator ,Women’s Cell and has been Chairperson ,Board of Studies at Ranchi University ,Central University of Jharkhand and at Ranchi Women`s College. She has also been an Associate at Indian Institute of Advance Study, Shimla. She is also Life Member, Indian Association of Women`s Studies(IAWS).Her areas of interest are tribal and women`s studies.

Her association with ISS has been longstanding. She has been on editorial advisory board of Sameeksha, the hindi journal of ISS as well as been co convenor of RC 20.
