Having completed my undergraduate(Patna University), Graduation (Hindu College,Delhi University), and M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D(Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi), Ibegan my journey in the profession ofsociology nearly three decades ago.At present, I am serving as the Dean,Ambedkar School of Social Sciences, Dean,School of Vocational & Futuristic Studies,Professor & Head in the Department of Sociology at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University (BBAU), Lucknow and, Governing Council Member, Ministry of Education, Government of India (2024-2027). In BBAU, I have also worked as Deputy Coordinator UGC SAP DRS-I, Chief Vigilance Officer and Controller of Examinations.
I had earlier served in the College Education, Rajasthan and as Sociologist at the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Corporate Office, New Delhi. I have served as Secretary of the Indian Sociological Society from 2022-2023, and also as a Member of the Managing Committee from 2016-2021. I have also worked as Secretary of ISS RC 07: Rural, Peasant and Tribal Communities (2010-2012) and Editor of the E-Newsletter of the ISS. I have published 13 books, 51 articles/book chapters and delivered more than 300 lectures at various national and international forums including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Canada, USA, Australia and Nepal.
