I have a PhD in Anthropology and Sociology of Development from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland, M. Phil ( JNU) and MA ( Delhi University) in Sociology and a MA in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, where I was Li Ka-Shing Scholar. Between 2000-2010, I worked on gender and development in South Asia. In 2004, I set up and managed UNDP India’s Community of Practice on Gender, as part of the United Nations Knowledge Management Partnership Initiative in India. As Regional Programme Officer  at the United Nations Development Fund for Women South Asia Office, I  coordinated the UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women) and UNODC ( United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes) led South Asia Anti-Trafficking Think Tank (2008-2010) that was a high-level dialogue mechanism of national governments of SAARC ( South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), regional UN agencies  and civil society organizations working on anti-human trafficking in South Asia. Through 2007-2010, I represented UNIFEM globally at the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT), a policy forum mandated by the UN General Assembly to improve coordination among UN agencies and other international organizations  to facilitate a comprehensive global approach to prevent and combat trafficking in persons. I am contributor to the International Framework for Action to Implement the Trafficking in Persons Protocol published by United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes, Vienna in 2009. I am the Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Human Development, published by Sage India.
