Brajesh Kumar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. He obtained his Ph.D. in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He has seventeen years of teaching and research experience and expertise on topics related to social demography, sociology of education, research methods, and quantitative data analysis using SPSS and R.
Dr Kumar has many publications in national and international journals. He has also authored two books on youth transitions to work and the problems of first-generation students in higher education. His recent publications consist of book chapters on maternal health in Bihar and several papers on educational inequalities, women’s empowerment, ageing and sociological perspectives on development. He has also presented several papers at national and international conferences held in India and abroad. He regularly delivers guest lectures on qualitative methods, grounded theory, and the use of SPSS and R in sociological research.
Apart from his academic pursuits, Dr. Kumar has been actively involved in university administration, and he was instrumental in developing the grading system and CBCS. He is a life member of the Indian Sociological Society, the Indian Association of Teacher Educators, and the International Sociological Association.
