Delhi
Dr Chakraverti Mahajan is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Delhi, holding a PhD from Panjab University, Chandigarh. His research focuses on communities in conflict and border zones, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir—including Doda, Jammu, and Rajouri—examining the social impact of armed conflict, communal tensions, and the mental health challenges faced by youth near the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LOC). Alongside his work in conflict-affected areas, he studies reproductive health and infertility, exploring how socio-cultural norms, family networks, and psychological wellbeing shape fertility decisions. His broader interests include rural development, public health, gender studies, and coping strategies in communities under stress. Dr Mahajan has published extensively, received honours such as the Professor M. N. Srinivas Memorial Prize and the Charles Wallace Fellowship in Social Anthropology at Queen’s University, Belfast, and supervises doctoral research, contributing to policy-relevant insights on social resilience, mental well-being, and community cohesion in conflict-affected regions.
