I am Professor at the Dept. of Sociology at Tezpur University, Assam. My research interest includes areas like Migration, Environment, Development, Urban studies, Agrarian Change, Ethnicity, Tribal Studies, and North-eastern India.
Tezpur
I have been teaching at Tezpur University, Assam, since 1997. I did my M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics. I have been actively engaged in teaching, research, and institution building in various capacities over the last twenty-eight years.
Beyond academia, I have been involved with various socio-political issues and civil society initiatives in northeastern region of India. As a bilingual author, I write and comment on critical regional concerns in both regional and national media.
I served as the founding Editor of Explorations, the e-journal of the Indian Sociological Society (2017–2021). Currently, I am serving as the President of the Sociological Association of Northeastern India.
