About Me
Dr. Iswar Chandra Naik is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Dy. Registrar at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha. Previously, I worked as the Chairperson of the Council of Deans and as an Associate Professor of Sociology in the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and as an Assistant Professor at KIIT University. I received an M.A. degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi in 2003, M. Phil degree in Social Anthropology from Delhi University in 2004 and Ph. D degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi in 2010. I have more than fifteen years of teaching and research experience. My teaching and research interests are Social Movements, Environmental Movements, Naxalite Movements, Dalit Movements, Tribal Movements, Political Sociology, Tribal Sociology, Social Stratification and Inequality, Sociology of Development, Development and Local Governance, Rural Sociology and Caste and Tribe in India. I have presented more than 25 research papers in National and International Seminars/Conferences in India and abroad. I organised several National and International Conferences, including the Indian Sociological Society’s 41st All-Indian Sociological Conference in 2015. I have contributed more than 25 research papers to different journals and published three books, Environmental Movements, State and Civil Society, by Rawat Publication in 2016. Living with Untouchable: A study of Dombo in South Odisha by City Publication, New Delhi and Scheduled Caste: A Sociological Study of Dombo in Odisha by SSDN Publication, New Delhi. Secretary of the Odisha Sociological Society.

· Selected and participated in the International Visitor’s Leadership Program (IVLP) Exchange Program for 15 days, sponsored by the US Department of State, US Government, from 6th April to 21st April 2018.
