Faizan Ashraf is a Ph.D. Research Scholar in the Department of Sociology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh. His research focuses on imprisonment and its consequences on prisoners’ families.

Faizan Ashraf is a Ph.D. research scholar in sociology at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. He holds a first-class master’s degree in sociology from AMU and has passed the UGC-NET (thrice), JRF, and JK-SET exams. His ongoing doctoral research, titled “Imprisonment and Family: Study of Families of Inmates of District Jail Doda, Jammu and Kashmir,” examines the socio-economic, emotional, and educational effects of incarceration on prisoners’ families.
He has contributed to an ICMR-funded research project and currently works with the Welfare Actions for Incarcerated (WAFI) outreach program, supported by the Azim Premji Foundation. Faizan has presented papers at several national and international conferences. He has published three papers in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include criminology, family sociology, social policy, and the sociology of marginalization.
