Dr. Namrata Gupta is a Sociologist and an independent researcher working on gender and science and engineering with a focus on women scientists in academia and research laboratories of India. Her research also includes the study of women engineering students, and women in STEM entrepreneurship. She has authored two books titled, ‘Women in Science and Technology: Confronting Inequalities’, published by SAGE (2020); and ‘Gender and STEM: The Indian Context’ by Routledge (2025). She has several publications in international journals to her credit including those in collaboration with renowned international researchers. She has been a recipient of several fellowships and grants from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

She is also a member of the Editorial Board of the SAGE journal ‘Work, Employment and Society’. She was on the editorial board of a book on women in science by UNESCO in 2022. She has given several invited lectures, been a discussant on panels and invited to national and international workshops, including those funded by the NSF.
