I am trained in the discipline of sociology and have experience working in the fields of sociology of health and medicine, public health, gender studies, masculinities studies, sociology of Northeast India, and ethnographies. I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, Assam, India, and have gained valuable experience in organizing seminars, conferences, workshops on writing academic papers and writing research proposals, panel discussions, faculty development programs, etc. Previously, I taught at Shreebharati College under Dibrugarh University and worked as a Junior Research Fellow on an ICMR-funded project at Tezpur University, Assam, India.

Nitish Gogoi is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Sociology at Tezpur University, Assam, India and also working as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, Assam, India. His doctoral research examines the intersections of ethnic identity, armed resistance and making of militarized masculinities in the margin, specifically among the former Bodo men rebels in Assam, India. His broad areas of interest are masculinities, India’s public health, and ethnographies.
