He is a recipient of the Thiru K. Kamaraj Gold Medal for securing first rank in M.A. Sociology from the University of Madras and was awarded the Madras University Merit Fellowship. He has reviewed research articles for journals including International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy (Emerald), Cogent Social Sciences (Routledge), and Journal of Infrastructural Development (Sage).
