Short info

My name is Soumitra Sarkar. I live at Bhadreswar, a locality in the district of Hooghly. The commencement of my academic career took place at Kabi Sukanta Mahavidyalaya on July 7, 2009. I have faithfully and devotedly served our institution for a period of fourteen years. I possess a strong passion for the field of education and the investigation of scholarly conduct. My primary motivation is to pursue my enthusiasm and engage in positive exploration across various academic fields. With a firm belief and steadfast dedication, I have devoted two decades of my life to the discipline of sociology. I have successfully obtained my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Burdwan, as well as my M.Phil and UGC-approved Certificate course in Applied Sociology from Jadavpur University. I am consistently enthusiastic about engaging in the pursuit of knowledge and information. I have completed my Ph.D. in Sociology at the Department of Sociology, University of Burdwan. The focus of my philosophical study is on the subject of elderly care homes. Over the course of the year, I have actively participated in several publications across a range of books, journals, and articles.

Upon enrollment at Kabi Sukanta Mahavidyalaya in 2009, it was seen that the department of sociology only offered a general stream. During the aforementioned era, Dr. Gour Kumar Kundu served as the principal, and his positive support guided me to introduce the department of Honours in Sociology. In 2015, the Department of Sociology implemented the introduction of Honours. Having served as an NSS program officer, I have successfully fulfilled a tenure of five years at this educational institution, from 2017 to 2023. In this context, I have participated in training sessions with NSS Programme Officers at Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission. In addition to my role as an academician, I am diligently carrying out my duties as an Assistant Coordinator at IGNOU and as a member of the Cultural Sub-Committee and NSS Advisory Committee. Both emotionally and intellectually, I possess a deep affection for my college due to its transformative nature. It transcends being only an educational institution and embodies a philosophy that has contributed significantly to my holistic development as an individual.
