I have completed my Post Graduation from Calcutta University in 2002 with a specialization in Sociology of Crime and Deviance and completed PhD on ‘Self-help group and women empowerment’

from Kalyani University, West Bengal in 2013.

I have been working as a faculty of Sociology in undergraduate colleges since 2003. Presently I am working as a lecturer (State aided college teacher Category 1; as per government nomenclature) in the Department of Sociology, Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith since 2007 with a tenure of 9 years headship in the same department (2008-2017). I have been teaching different areas of sociology as per the requirement of the curriculum, especially with a research interest in Sociology of gender, Sociology of Education, Methodology of social sciences, Economic sociology, Classical sociology, etc. Presently I am associated with Research Committee 06 that is Sociology of Religion under Indian Sociological Association and completed a course on Ethnographic Research from NPTEL platform in collaboration with IIT Mumbai.

My primary objective is to build the conceptual framework of the students so that their knowledge can be diverse, empirical, functional, contemporary and analytical. I also prefer to trigger their research interest in various fields related to sociology.

To broaden the scope of teaching I always preferred to work beyond classroom and thereby associated with different academic and research activities with different organizations. For example: CINI, Pratham and institutes like TISS, AIDSK Jaipur, JIS University, Heritage Law College Kolkata, NSOU etc.

As an independent academic contributor, I presented many research papers in various national and

international seminars and published articles on various sociological issues in various journals. I have

written various chapters on syllabus-oriented topics like Sociology of Gandhi, Research Methods

including humanist methods, comparative methods, plagiarism etc. I prefer to publish books

especially in local language (Bengali) to widen the reach of Sociology even to the students of the

remote areas of the state, Presently I am associated with writing an independent book according to

NEP syllabus semester wise.

I am looking for an opportunity to work as a faculty and research guide in the department of

Sociology which would allow me to continue my career as an academician and would also provide me with a wider scope for more research centered activities.
