I am Sumayya Khan, a Research Scholar in the Department of Sociology at Jamia Millia Islamia, where I also earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sociology. Under the guidance of Prof. Azra Abidi, the Head of the Department, I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. research on”Understanding the Socio-economic Status of Pasmanda Muslim Women: A Sociological Study of Service-Providing Castes in Rampur District.” My research focuses on the intersections of gender, caste, and religion, aiming to shed light on the systemic disparities that marginalize women in their daily lives. Additionally, I have co-authored a publication with Prof. Abidi, titled “Hindustan mein Pasmanda Musalmano ki Surat-e-haal,” which appeared in the UGC CARE-listed journal Tareekh-e-Adab-e-Urdu, Delhi. Along with that I have presented papers at two renowned institutions namely Maharaja Agrasen College, DU and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.
