Dr. Suraj Kumar
Dr. Suraj Kumar was a research scholar of the University Department of Sociology, Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura (Bihar), India. His doctoral research, entitled “The Role of JEEViKA in Women Empowerment: A Sociological Study of Purnea District,” examines the intersection of gender, rural development, and livelihood planning within the broader framework of social transformation.
He holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology from Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, and a Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.) from B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. In addition, he has earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRD) from IGNOU, New Delhi.
A lifetime member of the Indian Sociological Society (ISS), Mr. Kumar is actively involved in academic research and peer review. He is associated with IGNOU Learner Support Centre (0508), Purnea College, Purnea, as an Assistant Coordinator and Academic Counsellor. He serves as a reviewer for several reputable national and international journals and contributes to editorial activities.
His research interests include women’s empowerment, rural development, livelihood planning, environmental sociology, and contemporary social issues. He has presented papers and published numerous research articles and book chapters in leading journals and edited volumes. Suraj Kumar remains dedicated to advancing inclusive and sustainable development through sociological inquiry and evidence-based research.
