Mr. Vikash Sharma, holds a PhD in Sociology and qualified the UGC-NET in 2012. With over 15 years of experience working on development projects funded by Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), he specializes in Social Impact Assessments (SIA), the preparation and implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), and the monitoring and evaluation of resettlement processes.
Dr. Sharma is also trained and experienced in conducting Gender Impact Assessments and implementing Gender Action Plans (GAPs). His areas of expertise also include designing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies, community-based disaster management, grievance redress mechanisms, and community mobilization initiatives.
He is currently serving as the Social and Resettlement Expert and Nodal Officer for Gender Action Plans at the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA). His role involves ensuring the social sustainability and inclusiveness of infrastructure projects through participatory and rights-based approaches.
Dr. Sharma’s recent academic contribution, “Clean Water as a Fundamental Human Right in India: Challenges and Solutions,” co-authored with Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma (Asst. Prof., Central University of Jammu), is published by Routledge, London, in the edited volume Rivers Unbound: Exploring Social Currents, Legal Tides, and Stories of Flow.
