She takes a special interest in the study of Indian Sociology and in the Sociology of Social Movements. Many of her publications, including books authored by her, have dealt with these topics among others. She has been the convenor of RC-17 for numerous years and has delivered the first D.K. Banerjee Memorial Lecture on agrarian relations in India.
She is currently engaged in completing my books on Indian Sociology and a textbook for the course of Nursing. She is also in the process of authoring a book on Indian Sociology in Bengali. As a member of the managing committee, she would like to bridge the distance between teachers and students of urban centers of Sociology with those of the remote rural areas to the best of her ability. She would also like to resuscitate the West Bengal chapter of the ISS and its journal, which could not be published for the dearth of funds. She hopes to coordinate and work with colleagues at the ISS to further develop Sociology.
