Completed master’s and M.Phil programs in the University of Madras and Ph.D in Madurai Kamaraj University. Served in M.K University as Asst. Prof. of sociology for ten years and Associate Prof. & Professor of Sociology in Manonmaniam Sundaranar University for 21 years and Professor of Sociology in Vellore Institute of Technology for six years. Served as Visiting Professor of Sociology in Carvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, during 2000-2011, in different spells. Secured fellowships of Erasmus Mundus, Shastri Indo-Canadian, Indo-French and Tempus Public Foundation of Hungary for various research programs outside India. Published 40 research papers in national and international journals including seven chapters in edited volumes, authored a book and edited five books. Presently an independent researcher.
