George Jose is Visiting Associate Professor, New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). He has, for over three decades, held research, teaching, and leadership positions in academia and philanthropy. Dr Jose was Dean of the Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts (JDSoLA), NMIMS Deemed to be University, Mumbai, before moving to NYUAD. In 2006 he was appointed the inaugural Programme Director for Asia Society’s India Centre. George was a Fellow of the Forum Transregionale Studien, Berlin and Programme Officer with India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bangalore. George is the co-editor of ‘Mumbai / Bombay: Majoritarian Neoliberalism, Informality, Resistance, and Wellbeing’ (2022). His work explores the urban periphery as a site of culture and politics, processes of work and consumption, and citizenship, rights, and marginalisation in the city.
