Dr. Rashi Bhargava is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, India. Prior to joining NEHU, she taught at Christ (Deemed to be) University, Bengaluru, India and at Maitreyi College and other colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi, India. She received her doctoral degree in the discipline of Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her research interests include stand-up comedy, sociology of humour, politics and culture in North-East India, sociology of gender, sociology of visual culture and disciplinary practices of sociology and social anthropology.
