Doctoral Researcher in Sociology working on the socio-ecological dynamics of the Ganga in Varanasi, with a focus on environmental governance, cultural practices, and climate justice. I’m interested in gender, intersectionality, and community-based research. Open to academic collaborations and interdisciplinary dialogue.
Varanasi
I am a doctoral researcher in Sociology at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, working on the socio-ecological dynamics of the Ganga riverfront in Varanasi. My research examines how religious-cultural practices intersect with environmental change, governance processes, and questions of environmental justice.
Using mixed-methods, the research studies community perceptions of river pollution, ritual practices, and responses to institutional interventions. My work is particularly informed by feminist and intersectional frameworks, with a focus on gendered experiences of environmental risk and access.
My broader academic interests include environmental sociology, climate justice, gender and intersectionality, and policy and governance studies. I am currently developing research on geotourism and the transformation of sacred landscapes, as well as a systematic review on socio-ecological change in the Ganga basin.
I am keen to connect with researchers, scholars, and practitioners working in related areas and am open to collaborative research, writing, and interdisciplinary projects.
